Craig Barkley

Craig Barkley

Software Developer Instructor

Craig is NewBoCo’s first Software Developer Apprentice and now, a full-time instructor for the DeltaV Coding Program. When he was first inspired by DeltaV, Craig was working in a manufacturing facility and attending Kirkwood Community College (KCC). An Air Force veteran, Craig saw the future in technology and knew he wanted to be a part of it. He completed the DeltaV coding program while he worked before starting full-time with NewBoCo and DeltaV.

Craig also has a BS of Management Information Systems from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIUC), an AS of Software Development, and an AS of Web Technologies from KCC, along with certificates in Java, C#, and Database Analytics. He is committed to using his education, diverse work experience, and sociable personality to compassionately teach students to develop and follow sound procedures, resolve client issues in a productive and positive manner, and support their teams in overcoming the many unique challenges in today’s technological world.

Melissa Silver

Melissa Silver

Director of Student Services

Melissa is the Director of Student Services at DeltaV. She loves being a bridge and a connector — whether it’s connecting community members to DeltaV or DeltaV students to local companies! She has worked in human services and education for over 20 years. She served marginalized communities in the area of workforce readiness for most of that time. Additionally, Melissa serves as the 2022 Workforce Readiness Chair of the Eastern Iowa Human Resources Association. And in 2022, she was a proud member of the Inclusive ICR Advisory Council and the Employer Resources Committee.

Melissa graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in Political Science and quickly committed her passions to helping Iowa communities. She also loves raising her son, Jonah, who breathes math and soccer and tries to explain algorithms to her (DeltaV student on the horizon!) Plus, having no shortage of energy, Melissa values her experiences as a licensed massage therapist and making spicy carrots for Iowa City restaurant NODO Downtown!
